Galli
Estate
The
Galli Estate vineyard was established in 1997 and occupies 100
acres at Rockbank, in the renowned Sunbury Wine Region of Victoria.
With its rich, red volcanic soil, attention to detail in vine
management and low yield targets, the estate is highly successful
in producing premium quality wines. Although only a relatively new
winery, Galli Estate has already been recognized for outstanding
quality in Australian wine shows, receiving Gold and Bronze medals
for Cabernet Sauvignon, Gold for Pinot Grigio, three Bronze for
Shiraz, as well as Bronze for Chardonnay and Sangiovese. Galli
Estate's commitment to quality will ensure it offers outstanding
wines with distinctive varietal characters, from the excellent
Victorian wine regions of Sunbury and Heathcote.
Wine
maker Stephen Phillips joined Galli Estate in late 2001 for the
2002 vintage and is its first full-time wine maker. He graduated
from Roseworthy in 1992 and has previous wine making experience in
the Hunter Valley and, just prior to joining Galli Estate, with
Coldstream Hills in the Yarra Valley. Steve has also worked in
Europe, completing vintages in France, Hungary and Bulgaria, as
well in other premium Australian wine regions such as Coonawarra,
Margaret River, Mount Barker and Mornington. His particular wine
making interests lie in the mysteries of Pinot Noir and cool
climate Shiraz.
Galli
Estate Sunbury Chardonnay 2008
From an
outstanding growing season, the 2006 Galli Estate Chardonnay has a
deep straw colour. Aromas of grapefruit and white peach with nutty
oak lead to a fine intense and creamy palate with a long, lingering
finish, typical of the Galli Estate style.
