Hanging
Rock
Hanging
Rock Winery is located just north of the famous Hanging Rock
landmark, only a 55 minute drive
from Melbourne in The Macedon Ranges Wine region of Victoria,
Australia. The winery sits on The Jim Jim, a hill facing Hanging
Rock.
Hanging
Rock was established in 1983 by John and Ann Ellis. Their flagship
wine is the sparkling 'Macedon', a rich, complex, dry-finishing
Champagne style sparkling unashamedly modeled on the non-vintage
wines of Krug and Bollinger.
Hanging
Rock Chardonnay 2007
Rock
Chardonnay is a full-flavoured wine but is simultaneously fresh and
light. Un-oaked, it is made with carefully chosen fruit from our
growers in various regions of Victoria. It goes well with most
seafood and white meats, and is surprisingly good with pasta and
many other Italian dishes.
Hanging
Rock Shiraz Blend 2005
This
wine is medium-bodied with some obvious tannin and is an excellent
example of skilful blending; the richness of the Shiraz, the spicy
ripe characteristics of the Grenache, the smooth texture and
flavour of the Pinot Noir and the structure of the Mourvèdre
combine to produce a great food wine.
Hanging
Rock Merlot 2005
This is
a wine designed for today's palate - a soft, smooth and
medium-bodied wine. Featuring soft, spicy aromas on the nose;
the palate offers fleshy, ripe cherry/plum flavours, with just a
hint of sweet spice. The finish is soft, smooth and satisfying. A
light oaked, 'drink now' style of wine, this Merlot is made to be
enjoyed right from the moment it is bottled. It goes well with
barbecued and char-grilled meats, pastas and many Asian
dishes.
Hanging
Rock Riesling 2006
A
highly aromatic nose, with limey citrus characters predominating on
the palate. Crisp acidity balances a hint of sweetness and powerful
lingering fruit flavours. The perfect match for fish and most
seafood dishes.
