Galli
Estate
The
Galli Estate vineyard was established in 1997 and occupies 100
acres at Rockbank, in the renowned Sunbury Wine Region of Victoria.
With its rich, red volcanic soil, attention to detail in vine
management and low yield targets, the estate is highly successful
in producing premium quality wines. Although only a relatively new
winery, Galli Estate has already been recognised for outstanding
quality in Australian wine shows, receiving Gold and Bronze medals
for Cabernet Sauvignon, Gold for Pinot Grigio, three Bronze for
Shiraz, as well as Bronze for Chardonnay and Sangiovese. Galli
Estate's commitment to quality will ensure it offers outstanding
wines with distinctive varietal characters, from the excellent
Victorian wine regions of Sunbury and Heathcote.
Winemaker Stephen
Phillips joined Galli Estate in late 2001 for the 2002 vintage and
is its first full-time winemaker. He graduated from Roseworthy in
1992 and has previous winemaking experience in the Hunter Valley
and, just prior to joining Galli Estate, with Coldstream Hills in
the Yarra Valley. Steve has also worked in Europe, completing
vintages in France, Hungary and Bulgaria, as well in other premium
Australian wine regions such as Coonawarra, Margaret River, Mount
Barker and Mornington. His particular winemaking interests lie in
the mysteries of Pinot Noir and cool climate Shiraz.
Galli
Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Full
red-purple in colour, the dense, blackberry/blackcurrant bouquet
shows fully ripe fruit. So does the palate, featuring persistent,
savoury tannins. The wine is ideal for cellaring; it has good
length and good oak handling and becomes exquisite over time as
those tannins soften.
Galli
Estate Sunbury Chardonnay 2006
From an
outstanding growing season, the 2006 Galli Estate Chardonnay has a
deep straw colour. Aromas of grapefruit and white peach with nutty
oak lead to a fine intense and creamy palate with a long, lingering
finish, typical of the Galli Estate style.
Galli
Estate Sunbury Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2006
Mid
straw in colour, this wine displays the grassy and passionfruit
aromas typical of Sauvignon Blanc combined with the zesty citrus
fruit characters of Semillon.
Galli
Estate Sunbury Shiraz 2004
Hand
crafted, estate grown. This Shiraz is densely coloured with lifted
aromas of black pepper, dark chocolate and spice. Medium-bodied
with ripe fruit flavours and fine tannins in a soft finish, it will
increase in complexity with 4 - 5 years cellaring. |
